The Legend of Big Foot
Big Foot is the one legend that America can almost call her own. Yet there are many Yeti and Sasquatch like creatures reported from all over the world. So does that mean they exist or that it was brought over with many other traditions and stories?
All across European folklore and fairytales there are creatures who share similarities to our Big Foot. They’re usually called “wild men” or “forest men” and their descriptions can vary, but the similar tone of their stories and personalities to Big Foot is worth noting. For example, Woodwose is from medieval mythology/folklore and known for keeping on the outskirts of society. In some stories it’s noted that this wild man was turned into the creature due to his deeds and others he was always there watching.
The tales don’t only exist in Europe, however, Native Americans had stories of such hairy forest creatures too. This mashing of folklore as Europeans moved to the Americas meant more and more chances for spooky unknown animals to spark fears of the “wild man” as natives shared their own stories of such creatures.
So does this mean our Big Foot is real? Maybe? Who really knows! Thousands have claimed to have seen them for generations there’s a decent chance!
